We want everyone to feel safe whether they bike, walk, or roll. We believe biking as active transportation is a key part of a healthy community and we support things that make our streets safer, such as improved road design, increased education, and effective enforcement.

We are proud to advocate for safe cycling infrastructure and ways of making our community safer. We are big fans of protected bike lanes but even bigger fans of complete streets—streets that are safe for everyone to use and fit our needs. Streets are for people.

Current Projects

We support the City of Toronto official bike plan and we are hungry for more. We continue to monitor city plans and write letters, when needed, to let the city know what we’d like to see. We continue to monitor the following infrastructure projects:

  • Signed bike route on Sarah Ashbridge and Lockwood Avenue (expected summer 2019)
  • Signed bike route Edgewood to Eastwood to Bowmore (expected summer 2019)
  • Bike lane on Kippendavie (contra-flow) and Elmer
  • Bike lane on Gerrard East from Main to Victoria Park

Past Projects

Below are some of the projects we have supported in the past.

  • #ActiveTO
  • Danforth Bike Lanes (aka Danforth Loves Bikes aka Bells on Danforth)
  • Safe Streets! Complete Streets & Bike Lanes
  • Bike Share Toronto
  • Improved Wayfinding
  • Corley Avenue Contraflow (Installed 2019)
  • Woodbine Avenue, Cycle Track (Installed in 2017)
    • In 2020, greater protection via cement bollards was added to the sections north of Danforth Ave
    • We continue to monitor these lanes, especially south of Danforth, so these lanes can be even better. So much has changed with cycling infrastructure best practices, even since 2017.
  • Dixon to Lockwood contra-flow bike lane (Installed in 2015)
  • Lee Avenue curb cut
